Welcome to my Web page that seems to be mostly about my car!  Now I know some of you might think that a bit much, so I feel the need to explain myself.

I guess you could say I'm a hands-on learner, meaning I learn best by actually producing something I am trying to learn.  I've been working on getting my MCSA (Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator).  So as a way of learning, I've set up a server in my apartment, installed all the required software, and set up a static internet connection.  I then realized that I might as well have a Web page to host on my new system.  So at that point, I created a generic web page, http://thegatherings.com, in hopes that I could host other people’s Web sites on my server though this Web page.  Of course, then I needed to host a page of my own! So I created www.mypurplez28.com to display photos of my car and other things of interest to me.

So who am I, anyway? I am a simple guy, born May, 1982 in the town of Whitefish, Montana.  I grew up on a small ranch with cows, pigs, and chickens.  Around the age of 13, my parents went their separate ways.  My mom remarried to a great guy, and along with my brother, sister and two step–brothers, we all moved to a little plot of land across town. Now that all us kids have moved on to begin our own lives, my mom and her husband have moved to the little town of Valier, about three hours from Whitefish.  Valier is a small rural town with a population of about six hundred people.  They now own about 160 of farm land, along with a beautiful farm house.  They have about four horses, twelve sheep, six pigs, and two llamas.  My real dad, also now remarried, has a new son (pictured in gallery 5) who is about five years old.  Dad still owns the family ranch but has no animals.

I set out on my own two days after I graduated from Columbia Falls High School in a 27 foot motorcoach bound for Bellevue, Washington where I had a new job all lined up.    I have now lived here for about just over four years, and really love the big city life.  All of my family still resides back in Montana. The drive is about 500 miles and takes about eight hours to get there safely.  I still drive back to my home town about every two months or so.  The distance doesn't bother me, since I love to drive; it's very soothing for me.

In February, 2004, my brother was deployed to the war in Iraq, where he stayed for about 14 long months.  Upon his safe return, he and I rented my current two bedroom apartment.  Around the end of August, however, he moved on to Ft. Carson, Colorado, leaving me the large living space all to myself Yippee!

So back to why this site is mostly about my car! I have always loved sports cars in general. I purchased my Camaro on August 30, 2001, and have absolutely fallen in love with it.  It is a great project car as well as my daily commuter.  It sounds great outside and inside, with my three inch exhaust and my ten inch subwoofers with premium sound system.  It is a great shade of purple which I have found to be fairly rare.  The leather seats might not be heated, but they're still pretty comfortable for me.  The car runs great with a sweet get-up and go attitude when it comes to the open road.  I have wired and installed all of the aftermarket equipment in it.  I can also perform my own oil changes (even though I still have the mechanic do it).  I bought it when it had 53,000 miles on the odometer and it now has 109,000 and still running strong.

I haven’t invested much into the motor or the chassis, but I can confirm that it has a 5.7 liter V8 Engine with about 300 horse.  I can also confirm that it will do about 140 with very little problem! It has the manual 6 speed transmission, but I've had a heavier clutch put in as a replacement that has little to no slip upon release.  I've also got to tell you it has no problem maneuvering in and out of the heavy Puget Sound traffic (though I have quieted down now that they have under cover police looking for aggressive drivers in the area).
